Flex-Able is the debut studio album by American virtuoso guitarist Steve Vai. This was his first as a solo artist, and was created in Stucco Blue, a shed converted into a studio in Vai's old back garden.

Flex-Able 36th Anniversary Release is out now! Well, it’s been more than 36 years since Flex-Able was released but when I decided to do this it was 36 years old, eh. I love this crazy little record and wanted to get one final up-to-date mastering done by Bernie Grundman himself who is perhaps the greatest vinyl mastering engineer in the business.

Flex-Able 36th Anniversary Edition (2022) Steve’s first album was originally available on vinyl and cassette through mail order, but was later re-released on CD in 1988 with some bonus tracks* from Flex-Able Leftovers added. The current version on iTuens does not include these bonus tracks.
Flex-able is under-rated guitar virtuoso Steve Vai's first solo album, featuring a enjoyable mash-up of song styles and instrumental playing. While it's not exactly a guitar clinic or instrumental showcase, it is completely fun, infectious, and energetic.
Soon after that CDs became popular and Flex-Able was fetching $7.50 for 1 CD. When I joined the David Lee Roth band and the Eat 'Em and Smile CD came out, sales of Flex-Able took off and when Passion And Warfare came out, Flex-Able took another leap in sales.
