Controlling The Tongue. The Messenger of Allah (s) says: “Blessed is the man who speaks good and is triumphant; or keeps silent in the face of evil and is secure” 1. Among Allah's blessings upon man is that He made him a thoughtful and sane being and created a tongue for him.

Explanation. In this Hadīth, ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about what guarantees his salvation on the Day of Judgment, which is the ultimate goal of every Muslim who cares about his Hereafter.

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him.” Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6474

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed: He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silence; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbour with kindness and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest. عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ” إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِالْكَلِمَةِ مِنْ رِضْوَانِ اللَّهِ لاَ يُلْقِي لَهَا بَالاً، يَرْفَعُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَاتٍ، وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِالْكَلِمَةِ مِنْ سَخَطِ اللَّهِ لاَ يُلْقِي لَهَا بَالاً يَهْوِي بِهَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ ”.
