Undoubtedly the most influential work of Claudio Guillen in the area of studies referred to as world literature was his introduction to the subject, published in Spain in 1985 and later translated into Italian and English with the expressive title The Challenge of Comparative Literature.
Claudio Guillén. He gained his doctorate in Comparative Literature at Harvard. He held the post of Professor of Comparative Literature at the universities of San Diego, California, Princeton and Harvard between 1978 and 1985.
