Princess Maria Karoline born on 10 January 1899 in Pula, Austria-Hungary (modern day Croatia ), a popular vacation site for the Austro-Hungarian imperial and royal family. She was the second daughter of Prince August Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Archduchess Karoline Marie of Austria.

Through her marriage to Prince August Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Karoline was also a member of the Koháry branch of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Karoline was the fourth child and second eldest daughter [citation needed] of Archduke Karl Salvator of Austria and his wife Princess Maria Immaculata of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
10 mars 2018 · Her royal name and even her relationship to her “uncle Charlie” 9, Charles Edward, former Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, could not protect her. He received a personal notification of her death of “natural causes” at Hartheim and was shocked to learn of her death. However, he was not present at the memorial service held for her.

In 1938 her family decided to place her in an institution. She was killed at the Hartheim killing centre as part of the Nazi Aktion T4 program. There are questions about whether her relatives, who included Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, did anything to protect her. Oops something went wrong:
