8 oct. 2013 · Yoshisuke Aikawa (1880-1967) was one of the greatest businessmen of the Showa Period (1926-1989) in Japan. A politician and the founder of Nissan Motor, he was born in Oouchi village (now the city of Yamaguchi) in Yamaguchi Prefecture on November 6, 1880.
The founder of the Nissan Group was Yoshisuke Aikawa (1880-1967). Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, in 1910 he started the Tobata Casting Company in Tobata, Fukuoka, and thus helped to lay the foundations for the development of Japan’s automobile industry.
In 1928, exceptional entrepreneur Yoshisuke Aikawa became president of Nihon Sangyo Co. Ltd., the company from which the name Nissan originated. His knowledge of the automotive scene in the United States convinced him cars would become popular in Japan as well.
Yoshisuke Aikawa, a key figure in Nissan's early history, became the company's president in 1928 after working at Kuhara Mining Company. He changed the company's name to Nihon Sangyo (Nissan) and oversaw mergers and acquisitions to establish the Nissan Konzern conglomerate.
