Creasy of Man on Fire is not based on a true story, but the character is based on a novel of the same name, which was written by English novelist Philip Nicholson, aka “A. J. Quinnell”, in 1980. While it is true that certain events in the book were inspired by real-life events, most of it is fiction.

John Creasey MBE (17 September 1908 – 9 June 1973) was an English author known mostly for detective and crime novels but who also wrote science fiction, romance and westerns. He wrote more than six hundred novels using twenty-eight different pseudonyms.
