The city of Belleville is located on the north shore of the Bay of Quinte. Ideally situated between Toronto and Montreal, and less than one hour from the U.S. border, Belleville truly is at the center of it all. Belleville was known as the most prosperous town in Upper Canada. A visit in 1816 by Lieutenant-Governor Sir Francis Gore inspired the residents to change the name of their settlement to Belleville in honour his wife Lady Arabella.

If you are a resident of the City of Belleville, you may dispose of leaf and yard waste through the bi-annual curbside pickup program or free of charge at the Leaf and Yard Waste Depot at 75 Wallbridge Crescent. The Depot is on the north side of the Public Works' building. Leave the Leaves!
We have developed a computerized mapping system known as G.I.S. It provides people with not only a map, but also access to information associated with anything on the map. Different features of our City can be seen through a number of Map Viewers, including parks, zoning, and road closures.
In a typical year, Belleville is home to the popular Kiwanis Walleye World Fishing Derby in May and some mentionable summer must-sees include June’s Downtown@Dusk , the popular Waterfront Pop-ups and Belleville’s Waterfront and Multicultural Festival and the new Summerfest music festival in July.
