Carlos Monzón est un boxeur argentin né le 7 août 1942 à San Javier et mort le 8 janvier 1995 à Santa Rosa de Calchines. Champion du monde des poids moyens du 7 novembre 1970 au 30 juillet 1977, il est considéré comme l'un des meilleurs boxeurs de tous les temps.
Carlos Roque Monzón (7 August 1942 – 8 January 1995), nicknamed Escopeta (Shotgun), was an Argentine professional boxer who held the undisputed world middleweight championship for 7 years.
Scoring 39-39, 39-39, 39-38 Monzon at time of stoppage. Benvenuti's manager throws in towel. Benvenuti was knocked down once in the 2nd and again in the 3rd. The towel was thrown in after he rose from the 2nd knockdown. Monzon relinquished the title when he won the WBA/WBC Championship in 1970.

25 avr. 2024 · Monzon began his professional boxing career in Argentina in 1963. He was the Argentine and South American middleweight champion when he went to Rome and won the world middleweight title by knocking out Italian Nino Benvenuti in the 12th round on Nov. 7, 1970.
Monzon, due to be released soon, was driving back to prison after a weekend furlough when he drove off a road and his car overturned not far from his home in Santa Fe. Monzon, 52, and a passenger were killed.
