L’Institut pontifical oriental (IPO) est une institution catholique d’enseignement supérieur située à Rome. Le projet de créer un centre d’études de haut niveau consacré à l’Orient chrétien était déjà dans l’air à l’époque du pape Léon XIII [1], mais il ne fut réalisé qu’en 1917 par le pape Benoît XV.

Created by Pope Benedict XV in 1917 and entrusted to the Society Jesus in 1922 by Pius XI, the Pontifical Oriental Institute is a school of higher studies whose particular mission is to serve the Eastern Churches.
