Edmund Melson Clarke, Jr. (July 27, 1945 – December 22, 2020) was an American computer scientist and academic noted for developing model checking, a method for formally verifying hardware and software designs. He was the FORE Systems Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
Edmund M. Clarke is a renowned computer scientist and a co-recipient of the 2007 ACM Turing Award for his contributions to Model Checking. He is a Professor Emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught from 1982 to 2015, and a member of several academic and professional societies.
