Juan Crespí (Catalan: Joan Crespí; 1 March 1721 – 1 January 1782) was a Franciscan missionary and explorer of Las Californias. Biography. A native of Majorca, Crespí entered the Franciscan order at the age of seventeen. He came to New Spain in 1749, and accompanied explorers Francisco Palóu and Junípero Serra.
Juan Crespi was born in Majorca, Spain on 1st March, 1721. He entered the Franciscan order at the age of seventeen. On 9th January, 1740, Junipero Serra was officially commissioned to teach philosophy for the next three years in the Convent of San Francisco. Two of his first students were Crespi and Francisco Palóu.

Juan Crespi (hwän krās´pē), 1721–82, Spanish explorer in the Southwest, a Franciscan. He came to America in 1749, and in 1767 he went to the peninsula of California in charge of Mission Purísima Concepción.
