The Film Directing Program’s three year course of study is structured into 7 metier categories the faculty considers intrinsic to the exploration of narrative cinema: performance, structure and form, image and sound, theory and context, critique, professional development and interdisciplinary practice.
The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) is a private art university in Santa Clarita, California. It was incorporated in 1961 as the first degree-granting institution of higher learning in the US created specifically for students of both the visual and performing arts.
In the Creative Writing Program, our core courses attend closely to questions of form and aesthetics, as well as to the historical and critical contexts of literary work. Most classes combine workshopping of student-generated work with discussion of assigned texts.
