Après Soul Love, sur Moonage Daydream, Ziggy se mue en rock star bien aidée par Mick Ronson et son riff dévastateur. Starman ralentit le rythme et permet à Ziggy de donner un message d’espoir à la Terre. C’est une chanson pop parfaite, tout comme l’est la mélancolique Lady Stardust.
