Three years after its release on both the album and in single form, "Englishman in New York" was remixed in mid-1990 by Dutch producer Ben Liebrand. Providing a stronger dance beat, as well as an extended introduction, the song was a hit in clubs and reached number 15 in the UK singles chart.

" Englishman in New York " is a song by English singer-songwriter Sting, from his second studio album ...Nothing Like the Sun, released in October 1987. Branford Marsalis played soprano saxophone on the track, while the drums were played by Manu Katché and the percussion by Mino Cinélu .

Le britannique ( englishman) dont parle la chanson est le célèbre écrivain et icône gay Quentin Crisp. Sting a écrit la chanson peu de temps après que Crisp a quitté Londres pour emménager dans son studio de Manhattan.
