28 déc. 2020 · Tony Rice, guitariste et chanteur influent de bluegrass connu pour son flatpicking, est décédé vendredi chez lui à Reidsville, en Caroline du Nord. Il avait 69 ans. La mort de Rice a été confirmée par l’International Bluegrass Music Association, qui l’a intronisé au Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame en 2013.
Tout ce que Tony Rice a joué et chanté, il a signé son nom. Comme pour rappeler au public son âme bluegrass, Rice a réuni Crowe, le chanteur ténor Doyle Lawson, le violoneux Bobby Hicks et le bassiste Todd Phillips en 1981 pour réaliser The Bluegrass Album for Rounder.
David Anthony Rice, dit Tony Rice, né le 8 juin 1951 à Danville en Virginie et mort le 25 décembre 2020 à Reidsville, est un guitariste américain de musique bluegrass. Tony Rice est considéré comme l'un des plus importants guitaristes de ce genre musical : il intègre ainsi en 2013 l'International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame [1].
