Morris David Brough Pert (8 September 1947 – 27 April 2010) was a Scottish composer, drummer/percussionist, and pianist who composed in the fields of both contemporary classical and jazz-rock music.

Percussionist/composer Morris Pert came out of the jazz-rock fusion era of the '70s to play music with many big-name artists and produce projects that displayed his wide range of interests beyond instrumental contemporary jazz.
In the 1970s, Pert was one of the most prominent composers of his generation, receiving regular BBC commissions for large-scale orchestral works, including the first and second symphonies. At the same time, he was one of the foremost percussionists in the world of popular rock music.

MORRIS PERT was born in Arbroath, Scotland in 1947. He graduated B.Mus. from Edinburgh University in 1969, and on an Andrew Fraser scholarship, went on to study composition and percussion at the Royal Academy in London, where he was a pupil of Alan Bush. He was also an Associate of Trinity College London in Piano Teaching.
