Lonnie Chapin (born May 7, 1970; age 54) is an American songwriter, musician, and bassist. He was the bassist of Petra from 1996 to 2001. After leaving the band, he became the bassist of Tait from 2001 to 2004, along with his brother, drummer Chad Chapin.

Lonnie Chapin is a Grammy and Dove award-winning bassist and Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee. Lonnie moved to Nashville at the age of 21, and within two months was asked to play bass for iconic rock band Petra.
It's the first album to feature Lonnie Chapin on bass guitar, who would become the band's full-time bassist until 2001. The music is a mixture of traditional and original praise songs with a rock style.
