Beryl Korot (born September 17, 1945) is an American visual artist. Her practice includes video installation, weaving, paper tapestries, digital embroidery, and drawings. Korot is a pioneer of video art, and of multiple channel work in particular.
A pioneer of video art and multi-channel works, Beryl Korot created Dachau 1974 in 1974, documenting the former Nazi concentration camp through black-and-white footage and sound. The work explores the role of images and mediating technologies in processing sites of trauma and the relationship between weaving and video editing.
Beryl Korot is a pioneer of video art, and of multiple channel work in particular. By applying specific structures inherent to loom programming to the programming of multiple channels she brought the ancient and modern worlds of technology into conversation.
