  4. 26 sept. 2023 · Yeshivah and Mesivta Rabbi Chaim Berlin was the centerpiece of Jewish life and a source of pride in the neighborhood. Founded in 1904 as an elementary school, it was the first yeshivah in Brooklyn, and later one of the first high schools as well. A talmid of the Chofetz Chaim, Rav Yaakov Moshe Shurkin, served as its first rosh yeshivah.
