Frank Infante est alors passé à la guitare et Nigel Harrison a rejoint la formation en qualité de bassiste. L'album "Eat to the Beat" suit en 1979. "Autoamerican " lui succède l'année suivante. Une nouvelle fois Blondie est à son apogée notamment en Angleterre et aux Etats-Unis grâce au single reggae " The Tide Is High ".
In July 1977, Valentine decided to leave the band and form his own group, the Know; he was replaced by Frank Infante. In September 1977, the band bought back its contract with Private Stock and signed with British label Chrysalis Records. The first album was re-released on the new label in October 1977.
