Lucius McGill departed the El-Rays in 1954 and recorded for the Chess brothers' Checker imprint. In 1955, the group renamed themselves the Dells and signed with Vee-Jay Records. That year, collaborating with Count Morris, they released the single 'Tell The World' (Count's track was on the flip side).
