Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is wish fulfillment. In this respect, I think that people like it in the same way that they like Midnight in Paris. But it's also very subtle. (For Tarantino, I mean.) Other than Checkov's flamethrower, the movie is a low key character study, which imagines that post 1970's Hollywood never occurred.

20 mai 2024 · Once Upon a time in Hollywood as my 5. I was just seriously underwhelmed by it. And perhaps that was intentional but I want to wait a bit before rewatching it. I’d put this as a 85. Kill bill 2 as my 6. 80+ on my scale. It just didn’t do it like kill bill 1 for me. I have never seen death proof.

Bruce was arrogant but he was also fully aware of the cultural climate around Hollywood at the time and it's hard to believe he would blatantly antagonize so many people and risk losing his job. Agreeing to a full-on bout in a film lot would be as stupid then as it is today.
