Main difference is that hip hop usually contains rapping. R&B usually contains singing. Sometimes they combine for songs like “You’re All I Need” by Method Man & Mary J Blige or “Ready or Not” by Lauryn Hill. Production wise, Hip Hop tends to incorporate more drums, bass, and leans toward a more rhythmic approach.

RnB is incredibly diverse and it has amazing subgenres. Neo-Soul probably is my favorite. D'Angelo, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, Bilal, and Jill Scott?!?!? Absolutely unmatched. And there's several more. Timeless sound and I listen to new artists who I believe invoke a similar sound. My favorite genre probably.
