If the birthday is on Friday (what does before my birthday mean?), I would say At dawn on Friday, the day of my birthday etc. By dawn, suggested by Egmont, also works, but I would again prefer By dawn on Friday. If it isn't part of some unusual longer phrase, it is not normal to use "at the dawn/dusk". I don't think I've ever heard or read "at the night" in any text or conversation.

25 sept. 2007 · Thanks. I understand "the dawn is rising", but I have never heard it said that way. At dawn, the sun rises and daylight breaks. At dusk, the sun sets and night falls. I would omit "the" from the second sentence. More ways to say it: "A new day is dawning." "Daylight is breaking: a new day." "The curtain is rising on a new day."

Originally, Meyer wanted to title the book Forever Dawn, but she thought the name was very "cheesy". Wanting to add a "sense of disaster" to the title to match the novel's mood, she called it Breaking Dawn.

Jul 18, 2013. #3. I don't quite agree. To me: the dawn happened to other people = the dawn was something that happened to other people = the dawn did not happen to me. By implication, this means "I was never awake to experience the dawn." It's not that she only has bad memories of the dawn, it's that she doesn't have any memories of the dawn ...

(cross-posted) I agree that it's probably a subjunctive, and this form survives in the established idiom "come hell or high water", where it is not a preposition of time but has the meaning of "even if hell or high water should come".
