22 août 2024 · Ransom Eli Olds was an American inventor and automobile manufacturer, designer of the three-horsepower, curved-dash Oldsmobile. This was the first commercially successful American-made automobile and the first to use a progressive assembly system, which foreshadowed modern mass-production methods.

7 sept. 2024 · Ransom E. Olds. Ransom Eli Olds was born on June 3, 1864, in Geneva, Ohio. He was the first son of English immigrants Pliny and Sarah Olds and had two brothers, Wilber and Emory. Olds made Lansing, Michigan, his home and married Metta Woodward there in 1889. They had one son and three daughters.
18 août 2024 · Ransom Eli Olds leaves Olds Motor Works and starts REO Motor Car Company. 1905 Olds Motor Works continues to build vehicles in both Detroit and Lansing until 1905 when the company consolidated back in Lansing.
18 août 2024 · The new thoroughfare was named Olds Freeway, for Ransom Eli Olds, the founder of Oldsmobile and the REO Motor Car Company. Near the Lansing Board of Water & Light's Central Substation once stood a historic neighborhood, housing many of Lansing's most distinguished and influential residents.
6 sept. 2024 · Ford’s line was pre-dated by Ransom Eli Olds (of Oldsmobile eponymy), who introduced and had several patents related to his stationary assembly line, enacted in 1901. As an early assembly line innovator, Olds multiplied mass production from 425 units in 1901 to 5,000 units in 1904.
