RnB stands for Rhythm and Blues. "RnB" is much older than Hip-hop and itself has had a massive umbrella of diverse music and sounds underneath it and it's influences even wider. They both stem from Black American music and culture (with 'race records' being an early term for much black music eventually being dubbed RnB).
