27 mai 2021 · SilkAir was founded in 1975 as Tradewinds Charters. Scheduled services were introduced as Tradewinds Airlines on 21Feb1989. Renamed on 01Apr1992 to present name. Singapore Airlines’ regional arm, SilkAir, underwent a significant upgrading of its cabin products as part of plans to eventually merge with Singapore Airlines (SIA).
SilkAir (SLK, Singapore Changi) ended its independent operations on May 6, 2021, and therefore completed the operational merger with its parent company Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi). Full integration is expected to take another few weeks. The regional full-service carrier's last flight was MI411 from Kathmandu to Singapore Changi.
