Headlights ends up being a bit of a wiff for me. The Whispers are at their greatest just being an outright funk group. There, they are at their greatest power. Unfortunately, they fell into the same publishing trap that it seems a lot of Black American bands were circumscribed into in the late 70's. The trap being having to make albums that were disco/funk/soul even when only good at one of them.
