Cutting Crew's second studio album, The Scattering, [8] was finally released in early 1989. Its lead single, "(Between a) Rock and a Hard Place" (CA 54, UK 66, U.S. 77), failed to reach the Top 40. Van Eede's vocal style, however, did score a sizeable US Adult Contemporary hit with "Everything but My Pride." That song peaked at No. 4 ...

Nick Van Eede (born Nicholas Eede; 14 June 1958) is an English singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known for singing and writing the 1986 No. 1 power ballad, " (I Just) Died in Your Arms " for his band Cutting Crew, which saw international success including a top 10 placing on the UK Singles Chart.
Written by lead singer Nick Van Eede, this is his favorite Cutting Crew track. Says Nick: "I think it's one of my best lyrics, telling of how the small villages in rural communities can die out when the life blood youth move away to the big cities.
