Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen (Welsh: Gwauncaegurwen) is a village and community in Neath Port Talbot, South West Wales. Historically a part of Glamorgan, Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen is a parish made up of the electoral wards of Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and Lower Brynamman.

The story of Gwaun-Cae –Gurwen began in the 17th Century – It was was part of the Caegurwen Manor and was initially open common land surrounded by mountains. The meaning of Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen is ‘White Hemlock Moor’ and was once known as Gwaun Ceger Wen: Gwaun=Moor, Ceger/Cegyr=Hemlock, Wen=White.

Gwaun-cae-gurwen village is situated at the north west of the county of West Glamorgan, is in the parish of Llangiwg, in the Caegurwen ward. To the north lies Brynamman, formerly Y Gwter Fawr, to the north east is Cwmllynfell, to the south east Ystalfera with Gwrhyd lying in between.
