Omar Sharif Jr. est le fils de Debbie Sharif et de Tarek Sharif, le petit-fils de Faten Hamama et d'Omar Sharif. Né en 1983 à Montréal, il joue pour la télévision égyptienne et canadienne. Il a travaillé comme mannequin dans des campagnes pour Coca Cola dans le monde arabe, et pour Calvin Klein en Égypte [2].
En mai 2015, son fils, Tarek El-Sharif, annonce dans une interview que Omar Sharif est atteint de la maladie d’Alzheimer [12]. Il meurt le 10 juillet 2015 des suites d'une crise cardiaque [13]. Ses obsèques ont lieu le 12 juillet 2015 dans une mosquée du Caire et il est inhumé au cimetière Sayyeda Nefisa dans le sud de la ville.
