The Police est un groupe rock britannique, originaire de Londres, en Angleterre. Il est issu de la génération new wave et post-punk , et formé par les Britanniques Sting au chant et à la basse , Andy Summers à la guitare électrique et l' Américain Stewart Copeland à la batterie .
The Police. En 1976, alors que Sting est le contrebassiste et chanteur du groupe Last Exit, Stewart Copeland, cherchant alors un bassiste, le découvre lors d'un concert et lui propose de former un groupe avec le guitariste corse Henry Padovani (ce dernier étant remplacé plus tard par Andy Summers ).
