The management of the affairs of the Bar is undertaken by a council known as the Bar Council (Malay: Majlis Peguam). The Bar Council comprises thirty eight members who are elected annually to manage the affairs and execute the functions of the Malaysian Bar.
The Malaysian Bar is an independent Bar with 21,400 members who are advocates and solicitors. It is governed by the Bar Council, which is elected annually and has various committees to manage its affairs and protect the interests of the legal profession and the public.

16 mars 2024 · Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab is the new Malaysian Bar president for 2024 and 2025, while Anand Raj is the vice president. The Bar Council passed a motion to urge the government to repeal Sosma and other draconian laws, and to file a court challenge against the Pardons Board's decision to reduce Najib Razak's sentence.
