20 oct. 2023 · The Regulation lays down requirements for the design and manufacture of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the health and safety of users and to allow the equipment to be sold and used throughout the EU.
CEN and CENELEC are producing standards to meet the Essential Health and Safety Requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425. An important step forward was made with the adoption of the Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 on personal protective equipment.
The document bives basic facts about personal protective equipment, including legal and other standards for prevention and control. A downloadable checklist is available. The text details what safety representatives can do and indicates where further information is available.
PPE is equipment that will protect the user against the risk of accidents or of adverse effects on health. It can include items such as safety helmets, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear, safety harnesses and respiratory protective equipment (RPE).
