  1. 28 avr. 2018 · ADMIN MOD. Just finished "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury... wow. So I decided to read this book because I had just read a few very deep, heavy books (Ta-Nehisi Coates) and was going through lots of work and life stress in general. I was looking for a little escapism to be honest and thought, "Well this is pretty short and it's a sci-fi classic ...

  2. From what I've seen, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury despite being a classic, is universally panned. Several people appear to love this book and believe it is the standard at which dystopian-esque novels should be written, whilst others believe it to be a dreadful, tedious read. Personally, I just started it yesterday and I am hooked.

  3. 20 janv. 2021 · It could be a number of reasons. It could be due to translation like you said, but also what edition you’re reading. Even though the word count is the same the page number is affected by things like page margins, line spacing, font choice etc. I have a copy of Little Women by Luisa May Alcott that is 250 pages. My friend has one that is 400.

  4. 24 avr. 2022 · The novel has an average rating of 3.98 out of 5. The 1966 movie has an average rating of 3.89 out of five - essentially the same as for the book. There is also a movie from 2018 that gets a rating of 2.72 - much worse. I've read the book, but I haven't seen either movie. Will have to check it out.

  5. 27 févr. 2018 · Fahrenheit 451 (2018) vs The 1966 Adaptation: a side-by-side, shot-for-shot comparison. I have high hopes for this new version, but far prefer the original firemen looking like firemen. A lot of irony is lost without that.

  7. Basically, there's a moral in there that even though the things we create may not be valued, we must make them anyway for ourselves and humanity. I love Bradbury, but I don’t love F451. I didn’t think much one way or another about Fahrenheit 451. To be fair, it was assigned reading in eighth grade, but still.

  8. 2 oct. 2021 · Everything, to be honest. Bradbury has range and none of his other books are quite like Fahrenheit 451. But what you will find is spooky, nostalgic, thoughtful, tense, sci-fi, mystery, fantasy, and poetry. Dandelion Wine is an urban fantasy story with a small town mystery thriller baked in. It’s about the nostalgia for Americana youth and the ...

  9. I think you went into Fahrenheit 451 with the wrong mindset. It's a book best read leisurely. It's about how society likes to ignore important things for the sake of comfort. It's a book that rails against mindless entertainment. The government isn't actually bad, the government in that book is exactly what people want.

  10. I agree. I gave Dandelion Wine a try, because I enjoyed reading Fahrenheit 451 so much in high school. I only finished it because I was listening to it on audiobook. That may sound like I didn't enjoy it, which is not true. I thought it was great, though difficult to wrap one's mind around. His pros as delightfully strange. He made the most ...
