Charles Edison (August 3, 1890 – July 31, 1969) was an American politician. He was the Assistant and then United States Secretary of the Navy, and served as the 42nd governor of New Jersey. Commonly known as "Lord Edison", he was a son of Thomas Edison and Mina Miller Edison .

Quittant l'industrie mécanique, au sein de laquelle il avait déposé dès 1868 un premier brevet portant sur une machine à voter, Edison invente plus tard, en 1877, un répondeur télégraphique, puis construit l'année suivante le premier phonographe.
Edison began his career (after a brief stint as a poet) at the Edison Illuminating Company, soon rising through the ranks to become manager of the Edison Phonograph Company and the Edison Storage Battery Company. In 1916, Charles Edison became chairman of all the related Edison industries, assuming the presidency of Thomas A. Edison, Inc., in 1926.
