Baaba Maal est un chanteur et guitariste sénégalais d'origine peule . Biographie. Il est né le 13 juin 1953 sur les rives du fleuve Sénégal, à Podor dans la région du Fouta-Toro au nord du Sénégal, dans une famille de pêcheurs homonyme d'Elhadji Baba Ndongue - un disciple de Maodo Malick Sy.

Baaba Maal’s daring and dazzling new album, ‘Being’, will be released on March 31st, 2023. The record is a powerful continuation of his pioneering, transcendent work over the last forty years, blending the ancient and the modern, the acoustic and the electronic.
Baaba Maal (Fula: 𞤄𞤢𞥄𞤦𞤢 𞤃𞤢𞥄𞤤, born 13 June 1953) is a Senegalese singer and guitarist born in Podor, on the Senegal River. In addition to acoustic guitar, he also plays percussion. He has released several albums, both for independent and major labels. In July 2003, he was made a UNDP Youth Emissary.
Nommé ambassadeur des Nations Unies, Baabaa Maal n'en poursuit pas moins son activité musicale. C'est ainsi qu'en 2016 paraît ce qui est un onzième album à son image, The Traveller, enregistré avec Johan Hugo et The Very Best entre Londres et le Sénégal. Deux titres en sont extraits, « Fulani Rock » et « Gilli Men ».
