Johnny Tootall is a 2005 television film written and directed by Shirley Cheechoo. The film stars Adam Beach as the titular Johnny Tootall, a young First Nations man who joins the Canadian army to fight in the Bosnian War, in a bid to avoid the responsibility of taking on the role of hereditary chief of his community.

Johnny Tootall (Canada, 2005) Directed by Shirley Cheechoo (Cree). Haunted by his wartime experiences, Johnny Tootall returns home after serving a tour of duty in Bosnia and finds his estranged younger brother in the midst of a struggle to save their people’s sacred land.
The death of his father, running from his destiny as Chief of the Band and abandoning the love of his life. Nevertheless, Johnny must return home, the wolf spirit has called. Upon his return, he finds a new war. His estranged brother is leading his people in a revolt to save their sacred land.
