Shopping is a 2013 New Zealand coming-of-age film written and directed by Mark Albiston and Louis Sutherland. Shopping is the debut feature from childhood friends Mark Albiston and Louis Sutherland, who won acclaim for their short films. The 80s-set drama follows a half-Samoan teen on the Kāpiti Coast (Kevin Paulo), who is seduced into a world of petty crime.
A chance encounter at work with an eccentric and charming “shopper” named Bennie lures Willie into a world without rules. As Willie begins to find a place in Bennie’s reckless nest of criminals, Solomon grows increasingly vulnerable to their father’s violent tendencies.
