Heather Watts was a principal dancer at New York City Ballet under George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins. She is also a Vanity Fair editor, a dance educator and a Balanchine expert.
Heather Watts was born in Long Beach, California, in 1953. She studied at the School of American Ballet with Stanley Williams, Eglevsky and Danilova. Joined the New York City Ballet in 1970. She was appointed soloist in 1979 and principal in 1979.
