After the tour, McLaughlin pared the band down to a quartet of himself, Goldberg, Walden and Armstrong, and then the album was recorded. [5] This would be the last album by the Mahavishnu Orchestra for nearly ten years, when leader and guitarist John McLaughlin re-formed the group in 1984.

Inner Worlds est le cinquième album studio du Mahavishnu Orchestra, sorti en janvier 1976. En 1975, le violoniste Jean-Luc Ponty et la claviériste Gayle Moran quittent le groupe. Moran est remplacée par Stu Goldberg. Il s'agit du dernier opus de la formation jusqu'à ce que John McLaughlin reforme le groupe en 1984.

Released in 1976, Inner Worlds features the third and scaled down edition of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. No more strings.
