Rusty Allen is a novelist and freelance writer who studied creative writing at the University of Virginia. He has published microfiction and works in literary journals, and has multiple novel projects in the works.

Born in Monroe, LA and raised in Oakland, CA, Rusty (or Rustee) Allen is best known for replacing Larry Graham on bass for Sly & The Family Stone. Allen played with the group from 1972 to 1975. Allen also played bass for Little Sister, Bobby Womack and Robin Trower, among others.
