6 juin 2010 · Gavin Friday and Dave Ball’s cover of Suicide’s ‘Ghostrider’ is now available on vinyl and for download from Blast First Petite. The single was recorded as part of a 70th Birthday Limited Edition EP tribute series to the Suicide vocalist Alan Vega.
On a separate EP in the series, German techno musician Thomas Brinkmann contributed a reinterpretation of "Diamonds, Fur Coat, Champagne" as a "loping dancefloor" anthem. Primal Scream invited French electronic musician Miss Kittin to collaborate on the track to help bring out the pop influences in the song. [8]
Here they reinterpret 'Ghostrider', the opening track from Suicide's eponymous debut album, as a beaty synth-pop number complete with electronic shudders. Gavin Friday lays down a solid smouldering vocal performance, ever so slightly treated at points.
Gavin Friday, solo artist, one-time singer with The Virgin Prunes in this unique collaboration with David Ball, the musical maverick of Soft Cell & The Grid, present a specially recorded, subtly re-coded, poptastic dancefloor shudder-fest version of Suicide's "Ghostrider."
14 juil. 2010 · As a long-time Primal Scream fan, I can honestly say that Thomas Brinkmann's version of DFC beats theirs by a country mile. That's the only 10" I've not posted as I've had a couple of Primals posts pulled and didn't wanna take that chance again. This has a great dirty electronic pulse throughout it which sounds fuckin magic.
