The Chase! is a live album by the saxophonists Dexter Gordon and Gene Ammons recorded in Chicago in 1970 and released on the Prestige label.
En 1947, Gordon enregistre « The Chase » avec le saxophoniste ténor Wardell Gray, un morceau où le duel entre les deux ténors va devenir très populaire. À la fin des années 1940, Dexter apparaît à plusieurs reprises sur la scène de la 52e rue, avec Fats Navarro, Max Roach et Charlie Parker.

Dexter Gordon (February 27, 1923 – April 25, 1990) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. He was among the most influential early bebop musicians. Gordon's height was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm), so he was also known as "Long Tall Dexter" and "Sophisticated Giant".
