Vassar College (/ ˈ v æ s ər / VASS-ər) is a private liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. Founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar, it was the second degree-granting institution of higher education for women in the United States. The college became coeducational in 1969.

The Vassar curriculum is diverse, flexible, and fiercely bold. We were one of the country’s first colleges to experiment with interdepartmental courses in the early 20th century, and we have never stopped evolving. This is what makes a Vassar education future-facing.
