In an interview with East Coast Rocker (October 5, 1988) Andy Summers mentions being "up in San Francisco last week" and doing it "in five days". So the final two days mentioned in the album credits were probably spent mixing the album, probably without Andy being present.

Andrew James Summers (born 31 December 1942) is an English guitarist best known as a member of the rock band the Police. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a band member in 2003. [1]
Summers achieved international prominence as the guitarist for The Police (which he first had contact with in 1977, and of which he was the oldest member by almost a decade), most notably on popular hits such as "Message in a Bottle," "Don't Stand So Close to Me," and "Every Breath You Take."
