The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse (subtitled A Suite in Eight Parts) is a studio album by American pianist, composer and bandleader Duke Ellington recorded in 1971 and released on the Fantasy label in 1975.
Dedicated to the proposition put forth by Marshall McLuhan that the world was being orientalized, the suite blends eclectic elements inspired by Ellington’s observations in a number of countries. Its premier section, "Chinoiserie," is a monument to the universal compulsion of rhythm.
