Brian Cassar (21 March 1936 – 25 December 2022) was a British singer and guitarist known as Casey Jones. He led the first notable beat group in Liverpool, Cass and the Cassanovas, who were early rivals of The Beatles in the city.
Jones reached the pinnacle of the railroad profession as an expert locomotive engineer for IC. Railroading was a talent, and Jones was recognized by his peers as one of the best engineers in the business.

His life was cut short at 37 in a railroad crash. The infamous accident eventually made him a folk hero, with numerous ballads written about him throughout history, including tunes by such greats as Johnny Cash.
Casey Jones drove the engine on its first run 589 miles (948 km) from Chicago to Water Valley, Mississippi. Engineers, firemen, and brakemen did more than simply drive the train. They were also responsible for ensuring that the entire train was in good working order.
