Avondale Secondary Alternative School. (GR. 10-12) A place where you learn it is safe to be yourself. Grades: 10-12, Semestered. For over 50 years Avondale has offered an alternative vision of secondary education in the public system to students throughout Toronto.
Avondale Alternative Secondary School is a public alternative school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It teaches grades 9 through 12. ASAS and its family schools, Avondale Elementary School and Avondale Alternative Elementary School, are part of the Toronto District School Board.

At Avondale, students learn in a small, rigorous academic setting where close working relationships with staff and students are valued and celebrated. Our vision is to create a safe and nurturing learning and teaching environment that supports optimal development and excellence across all domains.
So what's alternative about Avondale Secondary? We offer a variety of semestered academic courses, designed to prepare secondary students for post-secondary education. Students also meet regularly with their teachers to extend and deepen classroom experiences.
Academics. Alternative learning is possible because of our small classes, averaging 1 0 -15 students per class. Our teachers facilitate student engagement by promoting critical thinking and discussion. We offer an innovative social sciences and science curriculum as well as arts and wellness courses taught by professional working artists.
