3 mai 2024 · Teddy Pendergrass (born March 26, 1950, Kingstree, South Carolina, U.S.—died January 13, 2010, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania) was an American rhythm-and-blues singer who embodied the smooth, Philly soul sound of the 1970s as the lead vocalist for Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes before embarking on a successful solo career.
Pendergrass made history for being the first black singer to have five consecutive platinum albums. Notable singles include “Turn off The Light’s,” and “Love TKO” his streak ran from 1977’s Teddy Pendergrass to 1981’s It’s Time for Love.
